Research at Western Health

Western Health encourages research that improves outcomes for patients and promotes new and better clinical practice and service delivery. Western Health has highly effective collaborative partnerships for research throughout Australia and the world with universities, hospitals, research groups and industry. The Western Health Office for Research provides a focal point for our research efforts.

Western Health's Research objectives are to:

  • Promote Western Health as a leading centre for research 
  • Imbed a culture of quality improvement through research and implementation of research findings in the organisation
  • Encourage and support staff from all disciplines [clinical and non-clinical] to participate in research activities 
  • Facilitate the translation of research findings into clinical practice 
  • Encourage multi-disciplinary and inter-organisational research to better address the complex clinical care environment
  • Foster collaborative relationships to optimise opportunities for research
 

Western Health Research Week 7-11 November in the Western Centre for Health Research and Education at Sunshine Hospital

Research Week is about celebrating the quality and the breadth of the research being conducted at Western Health and its departments, affiliated universities and research institutes. It also aims to get people talking and thinking about how they can work together better. The Research Week program is full of interesting keynote addresses, symposia and research capacity building workshops giving both junior and experienced researchers the opportunity to share enthusiasm for research.
