The Western Health Office for Research oversees and co-ordinates research activities within Western Health. It has two main roles:

  • Facilitation of research.
  • Research governance.

Our researchers and research teams have highly effective relationships, both formal and informal, with academic and clinical institutions throughout the world as well as with industry. The variety and breadth of these relationships enable Western Health to have a world-class reputation for innovative clinical research as well as basic science research.

Aims

The aims of the Office for Research are to:

  • Provide leadership and support for the conduct of clinical and non-clinical research of the highest quality;
  • Administer a system for research governance that ensures accountability, transparency and the highest ethical and legal standards;
  • Assist with the administration of research activities;
  • Provide advice, assistance and encouragement to all staff wishing to pursue research activities; and
  • Promote Western Health's research achievements to staff and the community.
