Receipt and Handling of Complaints

Western Health handles complaints regarding research misconduct in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2007 and The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research. The Western Health Procedure is titled: "Handling of Complaints Regarding the Conduct of Research?. For all complaints which fall outside the scope of  "research misconduct?, the complaint/ allegations must be dealt with according to Western Health institutional complaints procedures.


Complaints from researchers about the conduct of the LREP in reviewing research proposals should in the first instance be directed to the Chairperson.Where these complaints cannot be readily resolved by communication between the complainant and the Chairperson, the matter should be referred to the Director, Office for Research as a person external to the LREP. (This procedure is in keeping with section 5.6.5 of the the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2007).
