Western Health understands that you want options and choices after your Graduate Nurse Program. Therefore we have developed Discovery Programs for you to discover the nursing future that's right for you.

Towards the end of your Graduate Nurse Year we will assist you with career planning and the application process to find the job that's right for you. There are many options. Below we discuss the Discovery Program and Ward Employment.

Discovery Programs

The Discovery Program is a comprehensive professional development program aimed at supporting the Registered Nurse, Division 1, Grade 2 in the transition to working within the specialty areas.

The Discovery Program offers six month placements in the following areas:

  • CCU
  • Theatre
  • ICU
  • Emergency Department
  • Special Care/Peadiatrics

Ward Employment

Critical Care Nursing may not be where you want to pursue your career or you may want to consolidate your general skills further. The Graduate Nurse Program can assist you in finding career opportunities in specialty and general ward environments. The Graduate Nurse Program will help you through our easy and efficient reapplication process when the time comes. You may want to work casually, permanent part-time or permanent full-time, all of these are possible.
