This discovery program is offered at Sunshine Hospital.
For this discovery program we provide a position which is full time and one year in duration for those that are Division 1year 2 and above. In that year we will provide clinical rotations to the Special Care Nursery, to the Paediatric Ward and to Paediatric Emergency Department at Sunshine Hospital. Each rotation is 4 months duration.
During your time with us we will facilitate your development with:
- Monthly afternoon sessions on subjects relevant to the neonatal / SCN component
- Study days at the Royal Children's Hospital attending the Paediatric Foundation Program.
- 2 supernumerary days in each area
- Tailored study leave (total 5, 2 x study leave and 3 x professional leave, as per the Nurses MBA 2007-2011) to provide a foundational knowledge of the care of the neonate and the sick child.
Study days to include:
- Introductory Study Day
- Breast-feeding Study Day
- Neonatal Life Support Study Day
- Visit to NICU at RWH
- Day of Choice - to Birthing Suite/SCN HITH day
Participants are also supported on the wards through preceptorship.
