The Women's and Children's Service at Sunshine Hospital provides a specialised care to women, children and their families in the Western Health District.  This consists of in-patient and out-patient services including links with emergency practitioners in paediatric medicine.

To support the number of births in the area, a high acuity level II Special Care nursery provides comprehensive care for the newborn linking with maternity, which focuses on the needs of women.

The maternity service provides a midwifery model of care in collaboration with a number of medical consultant specialists to cater for all women regardless of complexity.

The district has a high multicultural client range and specific multicultural antenatal clinics have been developed to provide continuity of care for women in the community.
