The Vascular surgical unit at the Western Hospital is a busy service-oriented one with 6 consultants, an advanced vascular surgical trainee, registrar and resident. It performed 564 operation. It runs an outpatient session on a Wednesday treating about 50 patients per week. There is consultant cover for all vascular emergencies after hours 7 days per week. It serves the vascular surgery needs of the Western suburbs by having operating lists at both the Western and Williamstown Hospitals.
