Western Health Interpreting Service

The Western Health Interpreting Service provides a crucial link between patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD) and health care professionals enabling communication to take place.

The languages of high demand at Western Health are Vietnamese, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Cantonese/Mandarin, Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Dinka and Arabic.

A telephone interpreting service is also available 24 hours/7days a week for after hours and for emergencies when it is not possible to obtain the services of on-site interpreters.

The Interpreting service facilitates access to Translation Services for documents. Translations are paid for by the unit/department requesting the translation.


HARP


The Western Hospital Admission Risk Program (HARP) targets people who have frequent presentations to the Emergency Department and/ or at risk of frequent presentations, with defined chronic diseases and complex needs.

This service is free. However, your client may be asked to contribute for items such as aids and equipment or if the HARP program transfers you to another service that charges fees. HARP does have a Referral Form but will also accept referrals using other referral forms including a SCTT referral.
