Referral Process

To obtain an appointment to see a specialist at Western Health Outpatients Department the following steps are required:

  • A referral from your local General Practitioner (GP)
  • Your GP will then fax your referral to Western Health Outpatients Department
  • Once received, your referral will then be prioritised by the unit you require an appointment for
  • A letter will be posted to you once your appointment has been made

As the Western Health Outpatients Department experience high demand on services, many clinics require patients to be placed on waiting lists for appointments.

These waitlisted patients are seen in order of clinical urgency/priority. To ensure the timely process of your referral make sure your personal details/phone number are correct.
