The Western Health Library Service has 3 physical locations at Western, Sunshine and Williamstown Hospitals.
Libraries provide study areas with computers, audio-visual resources, electronic resources, printing and photocopying facilities along with hard copy resources such as journals, texts, videos and CD's.
The Western Health Library Service provides access to all Western Health Staff and students. Support and assistance is also provided to Hazeldean and Reg Geary Aged Care Residential Facilities and DASWest.
Qualified Library Staff provide relevant, timely and quality information to Library Users, in order to provide support in patient care, teaching, learning and research.
Library Service is not available to members of the general public.
W.H.A.L.E.S. (Western Health Access - Library Electronic Service)
Access at work - Available via following link: W.H.A.L.E.S. No passwords required within Western Health.
Access from home - Available from above link. You will need to purchase a $1.00 borrower card and register as a library borrower.
The barcode on your card, along with your surname will allow you access to W.H.A.L.E.S. Contact Library for future details.

Hard copy journals are not for loan but articles can be photocopied within the libraries. Journals are arranged alphabetically on library shelves.
Electronic journals are available via W.H.A.L.E.S.

Videos, DVDs and CDs are available for viewing in libraries or loaning. Wide range of health related material is available, along with many occupational health and safety items.

If you would like to request an Interlibrary Loan or Literature Search please fill in the relevant forms and fax/email to your site Library.
*Services are only available to Western Health Employees
Borrower Registration: To complete registration, hospital employes will need to visit their site Library in person and bring along thier current Western Health ID Badge.
Interlibrary Loans: Journal articles/books not held in library or available online can be requested for photocopying/borrowing from other institutions. Some charges may apply for 'hard to find' or study related items.
Literature Search: Having trouble finding relevant articles and research. Not sure which database would be best to use to find evidence for patient care. Trained Librarians can help with database searching and advice.
