The Centre for Cardiovascular Therapeutics (CCVT) provides a range of services targeted at the diagnosis, intervention and treatment of patients who are affected by cardiovascular disease. CCVT consists of inpatient and outpatient services, inpatient services being provided predominantly at Western Hospital. Outpatient services are provided at Western Hospital and Sunshine Hospital through privatised clinics and in addition, public outpatient services at Western Hospital.
CCVT has a major focus on teaching, training and research.
The services of CCVT are supported through a number of cardiac technicians who are integral to the day to day operation of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory as well as conducting both inpatient and outpatient investigations/procedures such as Electrocardiograms, Trans-thoracic Echocardiograms, Trans-oesophageal Echocardiograms, Stress tests, application of Holter monitors and more.

The 14-bed Intensive Care Unit at Western Hospital is the only adult critical care service in Melbourne's West. The Unit attracts and retains highly skilled medical and nursing staff to ensure that critically ill patients can benefit from the latest technology and invasive therapies during their stay in the ICU.
The Intensive Care Unit cares for patients whose clinical needs are greater than those, which can be provided for in general wards. This includes the provision of organ support, including Mechanical Ventilation, Inotrope Support and Renal Replacement Therapy.
