Quality and Strategic Projects

Quality is an important part of delivering services within our Directorate.

The Institute of Medicine Definition of Quality is the "degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge". We acknowledge that quality is complex and multidimensional, but should ultimately include the concept of a quality evaluation cycle that covers: defining quality, measuring and comparing and taking action to improve.

To find out more about quality and the diverse areas it covers, please see our Quality Plan. (click on link below)

Riskman

Riskman is one part of the Western Health Risk management strategy. This is an online tool to capture information about adverse events, incidents and near misses. It is recommended that you attend RiskMan training during your orientation so that you can learn how to use the application. RiskMan should be placed into a wider context of pro-active risk management. Please see the Quality Plan (insert link) for more information or see the Quality Manager.
