The Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Western Hospital provides a diagnostic and interventional service and, since March 2004, provides a 24 hour on-call service for those patients who may require an angioplasty urgently. Other procedures undertaken are angiograms, pacemaker insertion, automated implantable cardio defibrillators/AICD's and right and left heart studies. The number of procedures conducted within the CCL is approximately 2500 per annum. This is very comparable to other CCL's within Australia.
