The DASWest Community residential withdrawal unit provides
a supportive and safe environment whilst people undergo
withdrawal from drugs.
The unit aims to:
- Provide a safe, supportive non-discriminatory
environment in which to withdraw - Provide a therapeutic and educational program that promotes positive lifestyle choices
- Provide linkages to post withdrawal supports and
other community based programs and organisations.
The program offers non-medicated and medicated residential withdrawal over approximately six (6) days. Medication is prescribed according to each person's needs following assessment and consultation with our resident doctor and
nursing staff.
We provide a range of information such as harm minimisation relapse prevention and referral to appropriate services. Program activities whilst in the unit include:
- Yoga
- Acupuncture,
- Art therapy and
- Other groups.
