Inpatient Withdrawal Services

Community Residential Withdrawal Unit Achievements

  • Modafinil trial set up in partnership with Turning Point to
look at withdrawal outcomes for Amphetamine users.
Modafinil to aid in the detoxification - project ongoing.
  • Acupuncture research in collaboration with VU, looking at
self-reports around whether clients see Acupuncture
    ameliorating their withdrawal experience when
acupuncture is part of the withdrawal regime - ongoing.
  • $45, 000 awarded to DAS from DHS to help in the refurbishment of the unit after more than ten years
operation - this has included upgrades of the
whitegoods and the kitchen including the stove and
range hood. The carpet is also being replaced as part
    of the refurbishments.
  • The CRW program was also reviewed by DHS in what
is called a desktop review where services are measured against client satisfaction with the service and peer
service's perceptions of the service, on both measures
the CRWU was found to be a well loved and respected service.
