Self-Sufficiency and Sustainability

Overview

Self sufficiency and sustainability combines two important concepts, both of which have areas that cross over and hence have been combined into one priority area.
Firstly, under self sufficiency, Western Health needs to consider the appropriate mix of services that is appropriate to be provided by Western Health to the population of the west and where residents in the West access their health services.
Secondly, under sustainability, Western Health is keen to be a financially stable and viable organisation in order to reap opportunities that being in such a position affords. Such opportunities include pro-active investment in: technology, research and evidence based practices, productivity and continuous improvement initiatives (effectiveness and efficiencies), workforce/staff development, partnerships and reputation.
