Overview

Western Health is committed to ensuring the consistent provision of timely, appropriate, safe and effective health services to all patients who receive care from our organisation. Safe and effective patient care is deliberately the number one and central strategic priority area for Western Health as it forms the core reason for the existence of the Health Service in delivering health care for the West.

Achievements to Date

� Western Health has been successfully delivering health care services in the West over the past eight years
� Western Health serves a highly cultural diverse population and caters to approximately 107 different language dialects
� Western Health operates one of the busiest emergency departments in the State of Victoria
� Western Health is proud to be a key player along with many community service partners - seeking to improve the health and well being of the Western population
� Western Health has secured capital development funding in the May 2008 Budget to develop the first publicly funded radiotherapy facilities in the West - with a view to developing a full oncology service model in the future.

� Define the service profile for Western Health based on population health needs, the model of care and broad health care priorities
� Integrate service provision, clinical governance and risk management in a Western Health governance model
� Integrate capital development works to deliver on the Western Health model of care and clinical services plan
� Enhance information management and performance reporting to assist knowledge and decision-making.
