Western Hospital is an acute teaching and research hospital responsible for providing a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient acute health services to the communities of Melbourne's West.

The hospital currently conducts research in gastroenterology, colorectal cancer, emergency care, oncology, respiratory medicine and sleep disorders, and vascular surgery. In June 2001, an Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) ward opened and at the same time the Radiology Department also underwent a $3.2 million upgrade of its equipment and facilities.

The Western Hospital operates in the Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, Hobsons Bay and Brimbank Local Government areas and is located just 10 minutes from the CBD.

Services Available: Emergency Department, Intensive and Coronary Care, General and Specialist Acute Medical and Surgical, Aged Care, Specialist Diagnostic Services, Community Health Clinics (incorporating diabetes management), Obesity Management, Sleep Disorder Treatment, Oncology and Drug and Alcohol services.
