Renowned for its comprehensive range of women's and children's care, aged care, and rehabilitation services, Sunshine Hospital's commitment to health care in Melbourne's West has seen the site rapidly expand to offer an extensive range of adult acute services. These services include a general emergency department, an Acute Care for the Elderly Unit, a combined rapid assessment and general medical unit, a purpose-built palliative care unit, elective surgery facilities and an expanded range of rehabilitation services including an eleven-metre hydrotherapy pool. Sunshine Hospital provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services. Key services include child health, maternity services, special care nursery, general emergency and medical services, day surgery, women's health, aged care, rehabilitation, and mental health (operated by Melbourne Health). As a teaching hospital, Sunshine Hospital has a close association with the University of Melbourne, Victoria University, and other tertiary institutions involved in the training of medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
