Western Health was allocated $90.5 million in the 2010/11 Victorian Budget to provide for the construction of an Acute Services Building at Sunshine Hospital.

Acute Services Building fast facts

• The 4-level building will offer a range of services, including:
• 128 inpatient beds
• New outpatient clinic rooms
• 26 cot special care nursery
• 30 same day medical beds
• Diagnostic labs and clinical support offices.
• The Acute Services Building at Sunshine Hospital will provide increased inpatient capacity and a wider range of acute health services.
• The Acute Services Building will help facilitate learning and provide greater opportunities for current and future health care professionals.
• The Acute Services Building enables Western Health to establish a comprehensive health service in the western suburbs, ensuring we can continue to care for our growing communities.
• Construction will commence in late 2010 and be completed in late 2012. The Acute Services Building will be operational in 2013.
