School Work Experience

Secondary School Work Experience Program 2009

Western Health provides a Work Experience Program for secondary school students with a specific interest in pursuing a career in health. This program provides students the opportunity to gain an insight into the health care industry. This program is co-ordinated by the Human Resources Department at Western Hospital.

The program is only available to students undertaking Year 10. Students participating in the program are given the opportunity to spend five days working in various departments / wards within Western, Sunshine or Williamstown Hospitals to observe and participate in that work areas' daily functions. The program co-ordinator will make every attempt to place the students in a different area each day so that they are given a variety of experiences.

The students are paid $5.00 per day.

Student numbers applying for work experience placements with Western Health each year are significantly higher than the number of placements we are able to provide. To assist in placement and avoid disappointment we have set a closing date of  21 March 2009.
No applications will be accepted after this date.

Students will be required to complete Application Form_Work Exp 2009.pdf (43KB) and return it to Western Hospital with a covering letter and resume.

Please note that we have 2 Work Experience Co-ordinators who will be available to field enquiries from September 2008 onwards for the 2009 program.
