Internships 2010

Applications are welcome, from eligible final year medical students, to join the team at Western Health in 2010.

Should you choose to become a member of our staff you will find yourself in a supported environment, where Senior Consultants make an effort to know you personally. Our education program includes twice weekly intern education sessions, incorporating simulation workshops and case-based education scenarios.

Our leading health professionals will assist you in reaching your full potential through formal education and hands-on learning experiences.

In 2010, Western Health expects to employ up to 51 interns (with another intern position on rotation from the Royal Melbourne Hospital). In this first year, each intern will rotate through five terms. The majority of Interns will rotate to a rural hospital in Wodonga, Mildura or Wangaratta.  Most rural rotations provide experience in core areas of Medicine, Surgery and Emergency Medicine.

     - Orthopaedics
     - Plastic Surgery
     - Urology
     - Vascular Surgery (TBA)
     - Addiction Medicine (TBA)
     - Respiratory and Sleep Disorders
     - Pyschiatry
     - Night Duty

 The Western Health makes every effort to complete an Interview for all applicants where possible.  To avoid any disappointment on missing the opportunity - please make your Interview Booking at the Medical Expo / Information Evening or alternative contacting the Medical Workforce Unit in the week commencing Monday 1st June 2009.
Phone Interviews can be organised for those applicants that are from Interstate or at a Regional location.



- Interviews will be completed between Tuesday 9th June to Thursday 2nd July 2009.

- One-On-One Interviews will be the manner in which this Health Service conducts the interviewing process.

- Interviews will take only 15 minutes and interviewees should arrange your arrival at least 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.
