Internships (PGY1) 2012

 

Applications are welcome, from eligible final year medical students, to join the team at Western Health in 2012.

Should you choose to become a member of our staff you will find yourself in a supported environment, where Senior Consultants make an effort to know you personally. Our education program includes weekly intern education sessions, incorporating simulation workshops and case-based education scenarios.

In 2012, Western Health expects to employ up to 55 interns (with another intern position on rotation from the Royal Melbourne Hospital). In this first year, each intern will rotate through five terms. The majority of Interns will rotate to a rural hospital in Wodonga, Mildura or Wangaratta.  Most rural rotations provide experience in core areas of Medicine, Surgery and Emergency Medicine.

     - Aged Care (Sunshine)

     - Addiction Medicine
     - Emergency Medicine (Wangaratta)
     - Cardiology
     - Infectious Diseases
     - Orthopaedics
     - Plastic Surgery
     - Psychiatry
     - Respiratory and Sleep Disorders
         - Night Duty

The Western Health will only have a limited number of Interview Dates and Times available this year. 

The Interview Schedules will be available at the Western Health Booth at the Medical Expo on Saturday 14th May, 2011.

If you miss out on an appointment, your details can be placed on a waiting list for any possible vacancies.  Please understand that this does not guarantee you interview date/time - only cancellation of appointments will be backfilled.

Phone Interviews may be organised for those applicants that are from Interstate / Overseas or at a Regional location during the Interview Period.  

Interviews will be completed between Monday 30th May to Friday 1st July 2011.

Applications must be submitted online to the Western Health Website -
www.westernhealth.org.au - at least seven (7) working days prior to your scheduled appointment date
(if occuring between 30th May and 9th June, 2011).

Interview structure undertakes the One-On-One Format - one interviewer / one applicant.

Interviews will be scheduled for 20 minutes per applicant.

Intern Applicants should organise to arrive for their appointment at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
