Orientation and Your First Day

Western Health provides comprehensive paid orientation for all employees.

Department Managers provide a local (departmental / ward / unit) orientation session when employees first reach their new work area. This will include:

  • introductions to new co-workers
  • providing a tour of the work area (toilets, fire exits, etc)
  • discussing the Position Description
  • discussing any training requirements, performance expectations, local 'rules', who can help, etc

Also, Western Health runs a formal one-day Orientation Workshop (two days for Nurses / Midwives) on a fortnightly basis and all new employees are expected to attend. Nurses / Midwives are to attend both days of the Orientation Workshop prior to commencing duties.

All new employees receive information on when and where to attend their orientation session/s prior to commencement and parking is available in our public car parks for a cost of $3.50 per day. Below are maps representing where the orientation sessions are held.
