Leadership and Teamwork

Western Health has a variety of leadership initiatives that foster teamwork. These include:

Organisational Vales Project

Western Health endeavours to develop a culture where our employee behaviours align with the values of Caring, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Safety, and where our systems and processes support this. The aim is for Western Health to be a place where all staff understand what the organisational values mean for their practice and where our processes support the organisational culture (i.e. processes such as recruitment, promotion and performance development are clearly and openly linked to how we perform as well as to what we achieve).

Policies and Procedures

Policies and procedures are a statement of principles which indicate how the organisation will act in a particular area of its operation (e.g. in relation to promotion or privacy). They provide the framework a more fair and equitable workplace. Western Health has developed both clinical and operational policies and procedures to provide employees with the accepted way of operating in relation to a particular matter.

Staff Forums

The Chief Executive Officer of Western Health holds a staff forum at each of our three hospitals on a monthly basis. During these sessions, the CEO informs employees of our accomplishments, targets, strategic planning, and other major issues. Employees are also given the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

Western Health Weekly

This newsletter informs employees on what is happening within the organisation and our community, and celebrates our successes. All employees of Western Health have access to this newsletter either by email or on various poster boards.

Cultural Diversity Program

The Cultural Diversity Program aims to support Western Health to improve its responsiveness to the ethnically and linguistically diverse population it serves. The Cultural Diversity Program does this by providing language and cultural services that meet the needs of patients, their families and Western Health staff. The Cultural Diversity Program has a number of strategies and services to achieve its aim. These include interpreting and translating, the Language Aide Program, and community liaison.
