Basic Life Support (BLS) & Semi-Automatic Defibrillation
(BLS-D)

Training sessions in BLS, Semi-Automatic External Defibrillation (SAED) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) are offered for allied health, nursing and medical staff, depending on the level of training required.

Train The Trainer Program

'Train The Trainer' programs in BLS and Advanced Life Support (ALS) are conducted throughout the year. These courses are for nurses who wish to become CPR trainers in their clinical area. This is a great opportunity for individual professional development.

Currently all Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives at Western Health are expected to complete CPR competency annually.

Medical Staff

Medical staff receive training in BLS and ALS. Simulation-based training is becoming popular at Western Health. 'Mock Code' simulation sessions are available on request.
