Adult Acute & Subacute Services
Occupational Therapy is an integral part of the service profile
in acute, aged care, rehabilitation inpatient and ambulatory
services. Clinicians provide timely and effective assessment
and management of patients with occupational performance difficulties as well as providing appropriate support to
carers/families and staff. Western Health Occupational
Therapy Services are broadly located as follows:
Western Hospital
Acute inpatient services, and also plastics clinics,orthopaedic
and neruosurgery pre-admission clinics, cardiac rehabilitation program
Williamstown Hospital
Acute, orthopaedic preadmission clinic, aged care inpatients,
cardiac rehabilitation and Community Based Rehabilitation
Sunshine Hospital
Acute, cardiac rehabilitation, plastics clinic, inpatient
rehabilitation, Community Based Rehabilitation and Post
Acute Care, aged care inpatients (GEM and secure GEM),
and palliative care, and the OT driver assessment program.
Western Health Occupational Therapy Services (WHOTS)
A flexible responsive service is offered for OT referrals from
outside agencies, or areas where there is no substantive EFT
allocation of OT, such as non- WHS Post Acute Care, out of
area home assessments, maternity, psychiatry etc.
