The General Surgery units are staffed by 17 visiting surgeons, an Upper GI&HPB Surgery Fellow, Fellow in Colo-Rectal, Endocrine and General Surgery Fellow, 13 College Appointed and 7 hospital appointed registrars/SHMOs. Registrars rotate through General Breast and Endocrine, Upper GI, Colo-Rectal, Williamstown General and Sunshine General Surgery. Operating theatres are sited at all three campuses of the network (Footscray, Sunshine and Williamstown) and senior registrars are rotated to Goulburn Valley, Werribee Mercy and Western Private hospitals. Western Health serves the fastest growing shires in Australia and consequently is involved in a large number of HPB/Upper GI cases as well as significant general surgery work load. The Unit is staffed by 8 Surgeons who have a mix of sbspecialist interests, including complex open resections and laparoscopic work. Applications are invited from suitable qualified Surgical Trainees who have obtained their FRACS qualifications or equivalent to be eligible for this position. You must also hold your General Registration with the National Medical Registration Board - AHPRA.
